Why weekend MRI is now normal in London
Weekend imaging used to be a favour. In the 2010s a Saturday MRI meant either a rushed NHS out-of-hours slot for a genuine emergency, or a private clinic asking their weekday team to come in on overtime. It was expensive, unreliable, and generally not something you could book directly.

Sunday afternoons: the shorter list
Sunday is where the market thins. In 2026 the clinics that reliably open on Sundays, usually from around 12pm to 5pm, are Vista Health Wimpole Street, MRI Plus Harley Street, selected Scan.com partner sites, The Wellington Hospital's weekend rota (case by case), and Nuffield Health at 55 Wimpole Street. What is different on weekends
The scan itself is identical. Same scanners, same protocols, same image quality. What is different is the team around the scan.
Weekend radiographer teams are typically smaller. On a Wednesday afternoon a Marylebone MRI unit might have three radiographers, a nurse, a receptionist and a bookings coordinator on site. On a Saturday that team may be two radiographers and a shared receptionist covering two floors.
