  • Infection is uncommon but serious

    Deep prosthetic joint infection affects roughly 1 in 100 knee replacements. Fever, spreading redness or wound discharge needs urgent review.

  • DVT and pulmonary embolism

    Blood clots are the reason for prophylaxis after surgery. Calf pain, swelling or breathlessness after discharge needs same-day medical review.

  • Stiffness and manipulation
