Our editorial process
Every guide is written by the Pulse Atlas editorial team and reviewed by a rotating panel of UK-registered specialists engaged for the subject area.
How we review
Written in-house, reviewed by specialists engaged for each subject.
Guides are drafted by the Pulse Atlas editorial team from primary sources - NICE, the Royal Colleges, ESC, the BNF and the peer-reviewed literature - then handed to a UK-registered specialist whose scope of practice maps to the topic.
Reviewers are engaged on a rotating basis, subject area by subject area. When a specialist has completed sign-off, their name and credentials appear on the guide alongside the review date. Where a guide does not yet display a named reviewer, the review is being finalised and the guide is treated as editorially drafted only.
Every published guide is re-checked on a rolling 12-month cycle, and sooner where a NICE update, licensing change or major trial materially shifts the picture. If we get something wrong, we fix it, timestamp the change, and flag material corrections at the top of the page.
Editorial and matching sit on either side of a wall at Pulse Atlas. The team writing the guides does not know which clinics or consultants the matching side works with - and the guides are written to be useful, not to sell you a scan.

Brief from primary sources
The editorial team writes a brief from NICE, RCP, RCOG, RCR, ESC and the peer-reviewed literature - not from other patient sites, and never from clinic marketing.

Draft in plain English
A writer drafts the guide against the brief and the Pulse Atlas style guide - patient-first, jargon-explained, red flags flagged.
- 03
Specialist review
A UK-registered specialist engaged for the subject area reviews the draft and signs off the clinical content. Their name and credentials are attached to the page.
- 04
Publish with date
The guide goes live with the review date visible on the page and in the structured data.
- 05
Re-review on cadence
Guides are re-checked on a rolling 12-month cycle, and sooner where guidance or evidence changes materially.
