Safety and recovery
What to expect afterwards - honestly.
Skinboosters are a low-risk, well-established injectable. The things to plan are the 24-hour bump window, bruising and the gradual timeline.

Small bumps for 24 hours
Micro-droplet or BAP injections leave visible small bumps that flatten within 24 hours - plan around social events.

Bruising and swelling
Common on thin-skinned areas like the under-eye, neck and back of the hand. Arnica helps. Avoid alcohol and blood-thinners for 48 hours before if you can.

Tenderness for a day or two
A dull ache at injection points, especially over bony areas like the cheekbone or the back of the hand. Settles quickly.

Rare: nodules and delayed swelling
Palpable lumps at injection points can occur with any HA product - usually massage-responsive, occasionally treated with hyaluronidase.

Very rare: vascular event
Skinboosters sit superficially, so vascular occlusion is much less likely than with deep filler - but any HA injection carries a small risk. Discussed before consent.

No exercise for 24 hours
No gym, sauna or steam room for 24 hours. No make-up for 12 hours over injection points.

How is Profhilo different from Vital and Volite?
Profhilo is a thermally cross-linked pure HA delivered in a 5-point BAP (Bio-Aesthetic Points) pattern on the face, in 2 sessions 4 weeks apart. It spreads under the skin. Vital and Volite are injected as many small micro-droplets throughout the treatment area. Volite typically lasts up to 9 months from one session; Vital courses use 2 to 3 sessions. All three sit in the same family and are chosen based on skin type, budget and downtime.

When will I see results?
Hydration and softness are noticeable within 2 to 3 weeks. The collagen-stimulating effect (firmness, elasticity, glow) builds slowly and peaks at 8 to 12 weeks. Do not judge the result at day 3 - the visible bumps and micro-swelling settle within 24 hours but the biology takes weeks.

Is a skinbooster the same as a filler?
No. Volumising fillers are highly cross-linked HAs designed to add bulk and structure to specific areas (lips, cheeks, chin, tear troughs). Skinboosters are low-density HAs designed to spread through skin, hydrate and stimulate collagen. If you want a fuller lip or cheek, you want a filler. If you want overall skin quality improvement, you want a skinbooster.

Who is a skinbooster not right for?
People with deep folds looking for a lifting effect (they need volumising filler or surgery), active inflammatory acne or infection at the injection site, a history of keloid scarring, autoimmune or immune-suppressed states, pregnancy or breastfeeding, or a known allergy to hyaluronic acid or the local anaesthetic in the product. We screen for all of this at consultation.
