  • Dull, dehydrated skin

    Loss of glow, flat light reflection and a papery feel after 30 - the classic skinbooster indication.

  • Fine lines, not deep folds

    Superficial etched lines around the eyes, upper lip and cheeks. Deep nasolabial folds need volumising filler, not a skinbooster.

  • Crepey neck and décolletage

    Fine chest lines from sun damage and sleeping position - Profhilo and Volite grid injections are the workhorses here.

  • Juvederm Volite

    One session lasts up to 9 months. VYCROSS technology, injected in a grid on cheeks, neck, décolletage and hands. Two-session packages give the strongest result.

  • Skinbooster vs volumising filler

    Fillers bulk-augment specific areas (lips, cheeks, tear troughs). Skinboosters do not add volume - they change skin quality across a whole zone.

  • Skinbooster vs polynucleotides

    Polynucleotides (salmon DNA) are bioregenerative and work on tissue repair. Skinboosters are HA hydrators. Some patients combine the two in alternating cycles.

Safety and recovery

What to expect afterwards - honestly.

Skinboosters are a low-risk, well-established injectable. The things to plan are the 24-hour bump window, bruising and the gradual timeline.

  • Bruising and swelling

    Common on thin-skinned areas like the under-eye, neck and back of the hand. Arnica helps. Avoid alcohol and blood-thinners for 48 hours before if you can.

  • Tenderness for a day or two

    A dull ache at injection points, especially over bony areas like the cheekbone or the back of the hand. Settles quickly.

  • Rare: nodules and delayed swelling

    Palpable lumps at injection points can occur with any HA product - usually massage-responsive, occasionally treated with hyaluronidase.

  • Very rare: vascular event

    Skinboosters sit superficially, so vascular occlusion is much less likely than with deep filler - but any HA injection carries a small risk. Discussed before consent.

  • No exercise for 24 hours

    No gym, sauna or steam room for 24 hours. No make-up for 12 hours over injection points.

  • Gradual improvement over 6 to 12 weeks

    Do not judge the result at day 3. Skinbooster effect peaks at 8 to 12 weeks - hydration first, glow and firmness later.

  • Maintenance every 6 to 9 months

    The collagen-stimulating effect fades over time. Most patients top up twice a year for face and neck, annually for hands.

  • Red flags after treatment

    White or dusky skin, severe pain, vision change or a spreading rash - contact the clinic same day.

  • Who is a skinbooster not right for?

    People with deep folds looking for a lifting effect (they need volumising filler or surgery), active inflammatory acne or infection at the injection site, a history of keloid scarring, autoimmune or immune-suppressed states, pregnancy or breastfeeding, or a known allergy to hyaluronic acid or the local anaesthetic in the product.
